LESSON 13: LETTERING - HOW TO DRAW LABELS
Part drawing, part lettering, part design -- specimen labels add charm (and information) to your botanical sketchbook painting. In this photo tutorial, we’ll draw tag labels secured with loops of string. For the purposes of this exercise, you may use any sort of writing you like. In fact, drawn labels look especially realistic when the lettering is ordinary handwriting. Print in block letters or use everyday cursive, if you wish. Of course, if you are a calligrapher, you are welcome to indulge yourself with more formal letterforms. We will explore several styles of hand lettering in upcoming lessons.
Read the tutorial all the way through and print the pdf pages before you begin to draw.
